Water Softeners

Everything About Water Softeners

If you notice white crusty deposits on faucets, stiff or dingy laundry, spotting on dishes, dry itchy skin, or a water heater that's less efficient, it's time. Orlando's water hardness of 10-15 grains per gallon exceeds the recommended level of 7. Our free water test will give you a definitive answer.
A complete system with professional installation typically ranges from $1,500 to $3,500 depending on your home's size and water hardness level. We offer flexible financing starting under $50/month. We'll give you an exact quote after your free water test — no surprises.
A well-maintained water softener can last 15-25 years. The resin tank typically lasts 10-15 years, while the control valve may need replacement after 8-12 years. Regular salt refills and annual maintenance keep everything running smoothly.
A water softener uses ion exchange to remove calcium and magnesium (the minerals that cause hardness) and replace them with sodium or potassium ions. Water passes through a resin tank charged with sodium ions, which attract and hold the hardness minerals. The system automatically flushes out the trapped minerals during a regeneration cycle.
Most residential systems require about 2 square feet of floor space. The typical setup is about 4-5 feet tall and 10-12 inches in diameter. We can install it in a garage, utility room, crawlspace, or even outdoors with a protective cabinet.
Drinking Water & RO Systems

Drinking Water & Reverse Osmosis

Yes! Water softeners simply replace calcium and magnesium with sodium — in very small amounts. The sodium level is lower than most bottled waters. We can also install a dedicated drinking water line (reverse osmosis) that bypasses the softener if preferred.
Reverse osmosis (RO) is the most effective way to remove contaminants from drinking water at the point of use. It filters out up to 99% of impurities including lead, arsenic, nitrates, and chlorine. If your city water has a TDS reading above 150, an RO system can noticeably improve taste and quality.
It's safe but not always ideal. Softened water has a slightly higher sodium content and a softer "feel" that some people notice in cooking and coffee. We recommend installing a dedicated RO (reverse osmosis) line from your kitchen sink for drinking water — this bypasses the softener entirely.
Pre-filters typically need replacement every 6-12 months. The RO membrane lasts 2-3 years, and the post-filter (polishing carbon) every 12 months. We offer annual maintenance plans to keep your system performing at its best.
Water Testing

Water Testing & Analysis

Our comprehensive free water test evaluates pH level, hardness (grains per gallon), iron and manganese content, total dissolved solids (TDS), chlorine/chloramine levels, and alkalinity. We bring a digital tester and take samples directly from your cold water line to the kitchen and the cold water inlet — the most critical points.
The actual testing takes about 30-45 minutes. We'll come to your home, take samples from key points, run the analysis on-site with digital equipment, and walk you through the results. The whole visit is usually under an hour.
Orlando's municipal water averages 10-15 grains per gallon (GPG) of hardness. For reference: 0-3.5 GPG is soft, 3.5-7 GPG is moderately hard, 7-10.5 GPG is hard, and above 10.5 GPG is very hard. Orlando sits solidly in the "very hard" category, which is why water softeners are so common here. Wells in Central Florida can be even harder, often 20-30+ GPG.
Installation & Maintenance

Installation & Maintenance

Most residential installations are completed in 2-4 hours. We work efficiently and leave your home as clean as we found it. Once installed, we'll walk you through how it works and answer any questions you have.
Water softeners are low maintenance. You'll need to add salt to the brine tank every 1-3 months. We offer salt delivery and annual maintenance plans. Most systems run for 20+ years with minimal care.
We recommend solar pelletized or potassium chloride (for those on sodium-restricted diets). Avoid rock salt — it leaves more insoluble residue that can cause system issues. We offer convenient monthly salt delivery so you never have to worry about running low.
Absolutely. We service all makes and models of water treatment systems. Whether your old system is from a competitor or from a previous homeowner, we can diagnose problems, repair issues, or recommend a modern upgrade.
We offer same-day emergency service for our customers. Most common parts are stocked in our service vehicle, so we can usually fix the issue on the first visit. Our maintenance plan members get priority scheduling and discounted repair rates.
